Mark Pickerel and His Praying Hands

Jon’s got a gig supporting and playing with Mark Pickerel and His Praying Hands, in Seattle on December 28th.

Here’s what Jon has to say about it…

By the time Dec 28th rolls around in Seattle, the streets will be clear and you can cure your cabin fever by coming to see us at the Tripple Door.

I will be playing with Mark Pickerel in the Praying Hands and I will also be doing an opening set using Mark, the Sangster Brothers, Rachel Flotard and Lindsay Cates.

Neko Case – Middle Cyclone

Jon appears on the new Neko Case album “Middle Cyclone” which is scheduled for release on March 3rd next year (2009).

Middle Cyclone was produced by Case with Darryl Neudorf and recorded in Tucson, Brooklyn, Toronto, and Vermont. It features Case backed by her core band – guitarist Paul Rigby, bassist Tom V. Ray, backing vocalist Kelly Hogan, multi-instrumentalist Jon Rauhouse, and drummer Barry Mirochnick – along with numerous guests including M. Ward, Garth Hudson, Sarah Harmer, and members of The New Pornographers, Los Lobos, Calexico, The Sadies, Visqueen, The Lilys, and Giant Sand, among others. In addition to twelve new songs written by Case, Middle Cyclone includes covers of ‘Never Turn Your Back on Mother Earth’ by Sparks, and “Don’t Forget Me” by Harry Nilsson. Anti Records

The Boxmasters pics and videos.

There’s a couple new videos and pictures added to the site of Jon in action with The Boxmasters on the just ended tour.

And yes in answer to the question posed in the post announcing Jon’s place on the tour he did have to get a fancy whistle but not only that he had to get a fancy barnet do as well.

Now I just have to figure out who he reminds me of, there’s a touch of the fried chicken Colonel, or maybe it’s Custer or is it a dead president. Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
