Sitting In With Les Paul

Jon has piece on the Fretboard Journal website recounting the day he got to sit in and play with the legendary Les Paul at the Iridium in NYC on September 10th 2007.

Read the piece at The Fretboard Journal and see the pictures on this site here.

He’s a lucky old bugger that Rauhouse ain’t he

The tour dates that weren’t.

Some of you eagle eyed viewers out there might have spotted three Neko Case tour dates up in the “On Tour” section of the site, which have now disappeared.

Well the dates are still going ahead but Jon isn’t part of the band, so I’ve taken them down. You can get the information from Neko’s site, so get along and support great live music even if it is Rauhouseless

Jon has been hired, along with Tom V. Ray and Barry Mirochnick – Kelly Hogan and Paul Rigby are playing with Neko – by Jakob Dylan for his upcoming tours. So he’s currently rehearsing for those shows. I’ll get the dates up as soon as I get ‘em.

In the words of the man himself…

Neko band was going to take a bunch of time off so its great to be employed.

Jon has also uploaded a video of himself playing with Joey Burns & John Convertino (of Calexico) in Tacoma, which I’m just about to add to the site.

Haymaker – Haynnifer

Jon’s new bit of guitar gear is up in the “Gear” section.

It’s a square neck acoustic made by Roberto-Venn guitar building instructor and all round top bloke Don Windham under his Haymaker brand. A pretty damn fine looking piece of kit with name of Jon’s good lady wife inlaid into the fretboard.

Jon Rauhouse Air Show.

If you downloaded the NPR podcast of the Neko Case show from Washington’s 9:30 Club on April 9th that I posted about a couple of weeks about then you would have heard Kelly Hogan talk about her, Kathleen Judge and Jon taking to the air in some old time planes.

Here’s what the fella himself has to say about it…

Out on tour in Washington DC, I got a chance to take a ride in a 1945 T-6G Texan. That is a World War 2 era trainer airplane. The pilot is Kelly Hogan’s brother, Skip Hogan. What an experience and what a day. – Jon Rauhouse

It was all thanks to the National Capitol Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force.

Jon still in shock…

…about getting to play with Les Paul.

Here’s what he had to say about getting to play with the legend that is Mr. Les Paul.

I still can’t believe i got to play with Les Paul. We played sleepwalk and then did a blues in G. He was so awesome and sweet. I played “Sleepwalk” and then he talked with me on stage for a while and then we did the blues in G. He was sharp as a tack, a little slower and less notes but he still played very well. Still in shock.
