In the end the blues (music) are not the paper they’re written on, we agreed, it’s the horn and the slapped bass, it’s the singer and the voice, it’s the smoke in the room, it’s the people listening, bent foreward, eyes closed or shiny, it’s the time and place and the ache inside that matches the ache in the words and music. It isn’t something to take apart to much, to analyze.
